Retro Construction for Energy Efficient Public & Private Building Certification: The sessions in this series will build competencies for individuals interested in the "green" construction field. The courses will prepare an individual to bring up to date skills to the workforce on blueprint reading, welding, HVAC, OSHA Construction Safety as well as new skills for design options for long-term energy efficient buildings, proper removal and disposal of old or existing energy wasting equipment and supply sources. Each session will focus on "Lean, Green" construction. The competencies and certification for a residential energy auditor will also be available in this program.

This course covers the basic skills needed to identify and apply surveying techniques (mainly elevations and cuts and fills) required for the excavation and grading industry. Blueprint reading as it applies to excavating and grading will be taught to an application level.

These are all separate, independent courses and one can take one or the other or all, as needed. The certificate for the first one is an E.P.A. (Environmental Protection Agency) certificate and once you have that you are OK to proceed with refrigerant recovery and recycling, (requires that all persons who maintain, service, repair, or dispose of appliances and certain vehicles that contain regulated refrigerants be certified in proper refrigerant handling techniques).

Recycling Residential Energy Auditor Certification 40 hours / Dunwoody Institute $775 per person
The Residential Energy Auditor program is suited for employees or individuals who are performing or interested in utility sponsored residential energy conservation audits and working with the low-income weatherization program. A competency examination will be included with the cost of registration. Successfully passing the examination will allow students to demonstrate that they meet the State of Minnesota's minimum qualifications for residential energy auditors.
